God’s Gift of Sex Part 1 of 5
God’s Gift of Sex
What a Mess We’ve Made
Genesis 2:24, Eph 5:22-33
Introduction
Sex is a gift from God
"Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body." – 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Sex is not just a physical act—it is a spiritual reality.
"Flee immorality. Every other sin that a man commits is outside the body, but the immoral man sins against his own body." 1 Corinthians 6:18
Sexual sin damages us from the inside out.
"If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed." John 8:36
True freedom is found in aligning our desires with God’s perfect design.
How do we fix this?
We Must Teach That Sex Is Sacred, Not Shameful.
God invented sex
Sex is not a dirty secret
Sex should be protected, not out of fear, but out of reverence.
We Must Shift from Fear-Based Teaching to Grace-Filled Discipleship.
teach them the beauty of God’s design.
holiness is a journey, not a one-time vow.
offer grace, restoration, and accountability.
We Must Prepare People for the Realities of Marriage.
Marriage is about serving, loving, and sacrificing for one another
sex is not the foundation of marriage—Christ is
prepare people for commitment.
We Must Be a Place of Healing
The church should be a place where
the sexually broken find redemption
men and women can confess, find accountability, and be set free
God’s grace is greater than guilt
"Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh." Genesis 2:24
Marriage creates a new family unit
Marriage is a lifelong union between a man and a woman
Physical intimacy within marriage is approved and blessed by God.
Ephesians 5:22-33
The final, glorious purpose of marriage is to be a witness to the relationship between Christ and His Church—to be an example of the gospel.
