Introduction 1 Jn 5:11-12; Jn 10:10; 2 Pet 1:4; Eph 2:6; Rom 6:4

God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.” (1 Jn 5:11-12 NASB)

… that you will grow to be spiritually mature and have everything God wants for you. (Col 4:12b NCV)

HOW DOES GOD GROW US TO SPIRITUAL MATURITY?

I. WE GROW THROUGH MAKING COMMITMENTS

A. Commit Yourself to Jesus Christ Heb 7:19; 2 Cor 3:18

The Law brought nothing to maturity. Another way, through Jesus, is the way that works, bringing us right into the presence of God.” (Heb 7:19 Msg)

B. Commit Yourself to God’s Word 2 Tim 3:16-17

All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It straightens us out and teaches us to do what is right. It is Gods way of preparing us in every way…” (2 Tim 3:16-17 NLT)

C. Commit Yourself to Spiritual Growth 1 Tim 4:7

Take the time and trouble to keep yourself spiritually fit.” (1 Tim 4:7b Phil)

II. WE GROW THROUGH CIRCUMSTANCES Rom 5:3-4; 1 Thes 5:18; Jas 1:4; Phil 3:12-14

We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they are good for us – they help us learn to be patient. And patience develops strength of character in us and helps us trust God more each time we use it until finally our hope and faith are strong and steady.” (Rom. 5:3-4 LB)

Dont try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way.” (Jas 1:4 Msg)

III. WE GROW THROUGH CHALLENGES Eph 3:20; Lk 18:27

By His mighty power at work within us, God is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope.” (Eph 3:20 NLT)

God blesses whatever you commit to Him.

1. Commit your life to Christ.

2. Commit to be baptized.

3. Commit to Monday School
