Jesus told his disciples, some one on one and some in crowds, “Follow Me.”
It was more than just an invitation to go where Jesus goes. It was an invitation to listen to him, learn from him and then be sent out by him to proclaim his message.
To become an APPRENTICE. We are focused as a church family on becoming better followers ourselves but then in helping others become better followers of Christ.
Baptism is the final step in a believer’s journey to restore their relationship with God. There are some who want to draw a line where salvation occurs, and I believe that is a distraction and frankly keeps churches divided and arguing amongst themselves. Here is what I can claim, Jesus was baptized, Jesus told his followers to be baptized, in the early church the evidence is that when a person believed (accepted that Jesus was God, died for their sins and was resurrected) they were baptized by immersion. There is a series of events that happen in a person’s heart and mind, they believe, they confess their belief and their sins, they repent, commit to making different choices in the future. Each of these steps can be found in scripture as SAVES, confess and you will be saved, Believe and you will be saved, Repent and you will be saved. The one distinct instruction is that be baptized for the forgiveness of sins and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. We believe that Christ wants us to complete all the steps and commit to being an Apprentice and not caught up in the exact moment or act when we are SAVED.
Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. Romans 6:3-4
Scripture in most modern translations is highly reliable and accurate to the original. Scripture itself tells us that it is inspired and useful.
All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work. 2 Tim 3:16-17
If we want to grow in our relationship with the Lord, we need to spend time in His word everyday.
It is important in any relationship that you communicate. Our relationship with God is no different. Jesus showed the importance of prayer in his life.
He went out to the mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. (Luke 6:12)
Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed”(Mark 1:35)
And when He had sent them away, He departed to the mountain to pray (Mark 6:46)
withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down and prayed (Luke 22:41)
We should be spending time each day in prayer. Prayer should be one of our highest personal priorities, so many mention that they are too busy to pray, and I challenge you to rethink that you are too busy not to pray. I will be a praying leader, our staff will be a praying staff and our ministries will be praying ministries to lead our people to pray. We believe that prayer is powerful in our personal growth but also in connecting with God and bringing his kingdom alive right here within our family.
You were made to worship God! Worship is not just something that happens in a church service. Your daily life is an act of worship, as you live in a way that pleases God.
You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power. For you created all things, and they exist because you created what you pleased. Revelation 4:11
Every aspect of life can be an expression of worship when you live in the realization and recognition of who God is and what He has done for you.
Life Groups’ simple purpose: to bring people together in order to grow closer to God and others. We believe God created us to live in authentic relationships with others, allowing us to be known and to fully experience the full life He has promised us.
Sharing life through community is part of our design, but meaningful relationships aren’t always easy to find. That’s why Life Groups exist - to make these life-changing relationships relevant and accessible to you.
Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread ]from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved. Acts 2:46-47
Our mission is to train disciples and send those disciples into the world.
Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many. Matthew 20:28
The church is all about following Jesus, but that following is really an apprenticeship, a training ground. We want to make apprentices who are practicing what they are learning. Serving is becoming the hands and feet of Jesus in service to others. Opportunities exist at every level to serve Jesus.
The Bible teaches that everything we have has been given to us by God. By giving back to Him we are saying we are grateful to Him, we trust Him, and that we want to partner with Him. When we give, we are joining with God in accomplishing all He wants to do in our lives and in the lives of others.
We want to create a culture of giving, because Jesus taught that where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. We want the church to be your treasure, and to be the place where you show God how much you love him.
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Matthew 6:21
We want the church to be such a fun and happening place that you can’t resist telling people about it. “You should come and see what is going on.” The more important idea about inviting, is that you should be sharing your testimony, sharing your story of the difference Jesus has made in your life.
We want people to experience life change, we want people to hear about how your life changed, because your story might be the one that helps them believe that God could love them too.
Click to share your story.
but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses.
Acts 1:8
This is for those of you sitting there saying I have done all of these steps. Then you are mature in your faith, but that doesn’t mean you have made it and can sit back on your laurels and wait for Jesus to show up and take you home. Too many are doing that.
The kingdom needs you to share your story and to share your wisdom. This apprenticeship program only works if we have masters who are willing to coach the incoming apprentices. That is what Jesus did and that is what we will be doing as a church, passing on the skills we have learned as apprentices to those who are following in our footsteps.
And He appointed twelve, so that they would be with Him and that He could send them out to preach.
